Graduation documents

What do I have to do to get my degree processed and my certificate issued?

Once the office of doctoral affairs receipts the information about the publication of the dissertation, your certificate will be processed. The information is reported automatically when published via the LMU university library (see information sheet). If you have published your work elsewhere, please send a corresponding confirmation by email to the doctoral office.
The creation of the final documents usually takes 6 weeks, possibly longer. You will receive a notification from us by email as soon as your documents are ready to be picked up.

I would like to receive my certificate, what should I do?

You will be notified by email as soon as your certificate has been issued. You can collect your certificate in person during the opening hours of the office of doctoral affairs. If you are unable to collect the final documents personally, you can commission an authorized person to collect them.

Can I get authorized copies of my certificates at the office of examination?

The office of doctoral affairs is not authorized to carry out any kind of certification. For an official certification, please contact a seal-leading authority, e.g. the city administration of Munich.

I need a certificate of completion before I receive my final documents, what do I have to do?

A certificate about the successful dissertation can be created after the publication of your dissertation. You apply for this certificate with a brief note to the doctoral office.
