Completion of the Doctoral Examination and Doctor's Certificate

  • Mandatory within one year after your defense
  • Options for publishing the deposit copies:
    • Publication via the University Library: submit two printed copies of the dissertation and one digital copy to the department of "Electronic Thesis".
      For your support, there are regular, short training sessions on the publication of dissertations: https://edoc.ub.uni-muenchen.de/infover/index.html
    • or submit two printed copies to the University Library and publish the complete thesis as sole author in a journal or journal series
    • or submit two printed copies to the university library and publish the work as a single author as an individual publication in a commercial publishing house with a minimum print run of 150 copies guaranteed by the publisher

Doctor's Degree

  • The doctoral certificate will only be issued after the submission of the statutory copies.
  • at the earliest 4 weeks after the defense and delivery of the statutory copies
  • We will send the certificates by registered mail.

The title "Dr. rer. nat."

The doctor’s certificate is only issued upon submission of the statutory copies and can be received from the Doctoral Office the earliest 4 weeks upon delive ry of the statutory copies. The supervisor can hand out the certificate upon request.

Doctor's Title

The use of the doctoral title is only permitted after receipt of the doctoral certificate!
