Submission of your Thesis

Once you have completed all requirements within the structured doctoral program for the Dr. med. dent., you can submit your thesis.

Please first enter the final title of your dissertation in the online platform under "Antrag auf Zulassung zur Promotion (Dr. med. dent.)" and press save. You can now download all pre-filled forms required for submission from the Campus Portal, sign them and then upload them again.

Upon completion of your application using the online platform, please submit all original required documents to the Doctoral Office, either via mail (Promotionsbüro, Dekanat der Medizinischen Fakultät, Bavariaring 19, 80336 Munich) or drop of at the dean's office mailbox. 

The mailbox is located to the right of the gate at the entrance of the garden (see photo). Please divide your documents into several envelopes if one envelope is too bulky for a regular mailbox opening.

Please submit the following documents with your application for admission to the Doctoral Exam:

• 2 printed and bound copies of the thesis
• 1 electronic version of the thesis must be uploaded on the online platform (max. 10MB, how to reduce file size)
• Affidavit (incorporated in the thesis)
• CV (incorporated in the thesis, incl. a publication list with all your publications so far)
• Confirmation, that the bound and electronic versions are congruent (please download from Campus Portal account)
• Confirmation, that the thesis has not been submitted elsewhere
• Confirmation of the co-authors (publication-based thesis), please check our guidelines for more information about cumulative dissertations

• Certified copy of the qualifying degree
• Certificate of good conduct (no older than 3 month) (aka "privates Führungszeugnis")
• Complete log book (all required agreements, protocols, confirmation of the required research period, training program)
• Statement on the result of the iThenticate analysis signed by your supervisor
• Declaration concerning external studies, if you were not enrolled at the LMU for at least two semesters - if required
• Form for the "Münchner Universitätsgesellschaft"
• In the Campus Portal, a declaration of previously passed or failed doctoral examinations must also be submitted when submitting the thesis.
• You can download the forms required for the submission of your thesis in pre-filled versions from the your campus portal account, sign them and then upload them again

Templates:

• mandatory: Title page for your dissertation for all candidates who did their research at the LMU Klinikum or at an institute of the Medical Faculty
• mandatory: Title page for your dissertation for all candidates who did their research at an institute outside the LMU Klinikum or the Medical Faculty (e.g. at an MPI or Helmholtz institute or at the TU Munich)
• optional: style template for monographic dissertations (Dr. med., Dr. med. dent. or Dr. rer. biol. hum., new study regulations)
• optional: style template for cumulative dissertations (Dr. med., Dr. med. dent. or Dr. rer. biol. hum., new study regulations)
