Application

1. Application requirements

  • Applicants usually have a graduate degree or healthcare professional degree (MD, MPH, biostatistics, epidemiology, nursing, physical and speech therapy, pharmacy, dentistry or related field). Students in an advanced semester are eligible as well.
  • Fluency in English language is expected as communication within the course is in English.

Documents required:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Motivation letter stating the reason for participation
  • Letter of recommendation

2. Application process and tuition fees

Course duration and location:

The 9-Month Distance Learning Main Course Component takes place yearly between March and November. Lectures are usually broadcasted in Munich on Thursday evenings between 22.00 and 01.00 at the library of the Chirurgische Klinik und Poliklinik Innenstadt (Nußbaumstraße 20
80336 München). Lectures will be halted for a 5-week study period in July and August, during which participants are expected to continue their mandatory activities.

Application deadline:

The priority application deadline for the 2018 intake of the 9-month PPCR course is the 31st of December, 2017. We strongly recommend participants from Munich to apply before the priority deadline. Applicants may apply after the priority deadline. However, selection will depend on the available space and prior permission from the PPCR Program Director.

Application portal:

Applications are submitted directly to the PPCR Coordinators at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Executive and Continuing Professional Education, through their application portal which can be accessed via http://ppcr.org/ppcr/index.php?option=com_rsform&Itemid=289

Once applications are processed PPCR Harvard coordinators will inform applicants directly of their application status within 1-3 weeks.

Tuition fees:

While the LMU hosts the Munich site center, PPCR is managed and taught by Harvard University. Therefore, PPCR entails a course fee, which is detailed below.

All registration prices include a 6-Month Small Stata 14 (GradPlans™) license (shipping is included). Main component includes 5-Day Immersion Course. The fees are for the workshop/course only. Accommodations and transportations are not included.

3. Technical requirements

In order to participate in PPCR, participants will need regular access to a computer with excellent internet connection, email, a PDF viewer, and possibly an attached webcam and microphone.

  • Computers: Any computer running Windows or Mac OS are supported.
  • Internet connection: Your computer should be configured to access the Internet. A high speed internet connection (preferably by ethernet) is required during live lectures (Thursdays from 22.00 to 01.00 Munich time) and exams and recommended for the online weekly activities (i.e. forum of discussion).
  • Browsers: Although our website may work with Internet Explorer and Safari, we recommend Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox 11.x or above.
  • Plugins: Some of the multimedia resources in this program require Apple Quicktime, RealMedia, or a Flash player. You will be prompted to download the appropriate plugin when necessary. No plugins are required for general use of the website, and you may skip the multimedia presentation(s) within the program if you choose.
